How to play Palace

Everyone gets 3 cards face down, 3 face up on top of them, and 3 in hand. The rest is the deck. The first player with no cards left wins.

The swap. Before play you may trade hand cards with your face-up cards. Then the player with the lowest card in hand starts (2s and 10s don't count).

A turn. Play one card, or several of the same rank, at least as high as the card on the pile. Ace is high; an empty pile takes anything. If you can't (or won't), pick up the whole pile. After playing, draw back up to 3 cards while the deck lasts.

Hand, then table. Once your hand is empty and the deck is gone, play your face-up cards. Then play your face-down cards one at a time, blind. A face-down card that can't go on joins the pile, and you pick the pile up.

Special cards. A 2 goes on anything, and anything goes on it. A 10 goes on anything and burns the pile: it leaves the game and you play again. Four of a kind on top of the pile (from one play or several) burns it too, and whoever made it plays again.

House rules

Coach shows the move it would make and why. Undo takes back your last move and the bots' replies. Your own draw from the deck and your own face-down flip are final: Undo can't go back past them. Undo can still go back past the bots' replies, even ones that showed you cards. Reveal shows every hand (the game is then marked revealed in History).
